The HNSLR seeks Associate Editors to assist in the review of articles for publication. As an online platform utilizing collaborative tools for the editorial process, the HNSLR will work with students from all campuses. The HNSLR seeks applications for Associate Editors from interested and diligent J.D., J.D./LL.M., and LL.M. students. Associate Editors perform traditional law review duties, including spading, editing and proofreading.

Associate Editors will serve as the primary pool of candidates for future Editorial Board positions. All members must commit to serving a minimum of two terms and will receive one credit hour per term. Consideration will be given to Associate Editor applications on a rolling basis with the expectation that Associate Editors will begin their duties – including mandatory training – in the term that follows their selection. The HNSLR performs duties in every term, including Trinity term.

These are the requirements to be considered for an Associate Editor position:

1. At least a 3.0 GPA.

2. Enrolled in the Homeland & National Security Law LL.M. program or otherwise can demonstrate an interest in Homeland or National Security Law.

3. Taken Scholarly Writing (or equivalent course) or passed the HNSLR Bluebook Test.

4. Commit to serving at least two terms as an Associate Editor (you can take HNSLR for up to 4 terms for one free credit each term).

5. Submit your CV/resume, a writing sample, unofficial transcript, and a cover letter/email explaining your interest and qualifications.

Exceptions to any of these requirements may be made on a case-by-case basis.

To be considered for a position on the HNSLR, please contact the Faculty Advisor, Samantha Sliney, at slineys@cooley.edu, stating your interest and providing the required materials for consideration.
